Plastic consumption

Some stats on plastic consumption

We only have to take a glance at the leading national and international media to take stock of the huge problem that everything related to the disposal of single-use plastics represents for our planet. Gradually, initiatives providing an alternative to plastic have appeared on the scene to address the problem. These range from cloth bags to glass bottles for drinks, and now edible and biodegradable straws.

The public is increasingly aware of the harmful effects of plastic pollution and its negative impact on our seas and oceans.

In the United States, one of the world’s largest countries, approximately 500 million plastic straws are thrown away every day. All this plastic is usually tipped into our seas and oceans, with the resulting problems that this can have on the environment.

In Europe, 36 Billion straws are consumed every day, which amounts to almost 1.384 billion a year, according to a Greenpeace study.
